Finally painted with Zaxis orange! Splitter is ready for action with few modifications done to it. Check the functionality out from the video! Sorry for the poor/authentic sound quality. All hydraulic and mechanical noices are coming directly to GoPros audio.

Splitter is built fully from scrap metal pieces I had. Hydraulic cylinder, quick couplers and 6/2-valve were purchased from local hydraulic shop. It costed around 350€ plus the work to make this machine. And of course the paint was quite expensive, but it just had to done so to make match with the excavator! 😉

6/2 valve between split stroke and tilt cylinder is operated via excavators “horn” button. Electrics is taken with cable directly from horn. Was easy and quick to do it so. 😉

Wood I use in a boiler that can take max 57cm log in length… Logs are cut with chain saw to 50-55cm to hopefully make them fit inside 🙂 Boiler is gasification type so diameter of log is not so critical and everything goes. -It just has to be relatively dry to give good efficiency. Thats why splitting is needed…

Wood diameter in this video varies from smallest 10cm to 35cm… Clearly you can see that that 10 cm diameter is not so productive anymore with this splitter. There is different log splitter that I use for smaller wood but maximum it can take is only 20 cm…

So…-Purpose of this excavator device is to split bigger than 20cm logs in diameter! And it helps me a lot to make that bigger diameter wood! 😀
